Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care is at the heart of everything we do at the College. We understand that the emotional wellbeing of students is fundamental to their academic success, and so we offer a holistic approach that develops students’ understanding of wellbeing through explicit teaching of strategies to develop growth mindsets, resilience and wellbeing. These programs are supported by various external providers who visit the College to share their expertise in these areas.

We pride ourselves on having a safe and welcoming community, where all people are valued for the person they are and the contribution they make. With our Catholic values underpinning all of our behaviours, we aim to educate our students to be compassionate, caring and positive contributors to our community and society beyond school.

Each year level has a Leader of Student Care, who is responsible for the overall wellbeing of each student in their year. To assist the Year Level Coordinators, we have a Leader of Student Wellbeing, Assistant Principal – Pastoral Care and two Registered Psychologists who are employed as College Counsellors.

The College Counsellors are available to assist students who may be having difficulty with issues such as anxiety, depression or family conflict. Students may refer themselves, or may be referred by a staff member or parents. The Counsellors have developed strong working relationships with external agencies and with practitioners in private practice, and continue to support the student at school in consultation with the external treating clinician. Consultation with families forms an important part of our practice. The Counsellors are also involved with a number of evidence based group programs aimed at preventing anxiety and depression.
